Just to set your mind at ease: boys tend to talk later and with less acuity than girls. My son didn't really start fully talking until he was about two, and now he's in the gifted program at his school. My daughter was speaking in full, understandable sentences when she was about 15 months old.

And the cautious thing? Yeah, I second the broken bones and pregnant girlfriends! My son has always been cautious (not to the point of fear, he's just careful) and it hasn't seemed to affect him in social situations.

Just a thought: I wonder if late-speakers are cautious as a group?
